Geneverde Roma

The jeweled scabbard hung lightly
Swinging to and fro
As with measured stride
And steps that glide
She ascends upon the throne.

Pausing slightly, as she turns
To gaze upon the crowd
Mine eyes are caught
By those that lie
Beneath the golden crown.

Through the distance that lay between
How great I cannot say,
T'was with that glance
And puckish smile
She stole my heart away.

The Destiny of St. Goodbye

You're such a difficult thing!
Difficult not to love
Difficult to let go of.

Go and spread your wings
Jump off the bough
Into the now

Run, swim and sing
Be the eagle in the sky
A voice that never lies

Then as life may bring
So do what you must
Being kind, merciful and just.

Changes

in the window a pane is broken
in creeps the cold air and dust
in crawls a small insect token
in pours the rain and rusts

the iron mask upon a face
the change a sudden start
the slender chain entangled waist
the iron clasps upon a heart

fall broken to the floor
fall through a breathless wind
fall singing who adores
fall and lives to love again
