Yesterday: JoCo concert. Great show, lots of goofy energy from the audience. The best moment of the evening was Coulton and friends playing the Rock Band version of “Still Alive.” Well, now I have to get it.
Today: WonderCon. Lots of photo taking, also seeing a couple old friends. I’m getting some real hands-on experience with depth of field, which can be a powerful ally and a vicious enemy. It’s pretty sad to take a picture of an artist, and have the poster behind her come out perfectly sharp while she herself is blurry. Wired gets first pick of the photos, but I’ll put some of the leftovers on my Flickr page.
Tomorrow: More WonderCon, plus drawing.

That was fun, wasn’t it?
I liked the part where Coulton asked if anybody wrote software and 80% of the audience (including me) went “YEEEAAAHH!” Ah, nerd concerts. Good times.
Remarkably enough, footage of the ‘Still Alive’ moment.
Awesome vidoe, ajd. Coulton is coming to my area (the Birchmere, DC area) next week, I wonder if he’ll do “Still Alive” then. That would rock, so to speak.
For depth of field woes, you might be interested in this new lens being developed by, of all companies, Adobe. It allows you to adjust the focus _after_ the picture has been taken. http://www.notcot.com/archives/2008/02/adobe_lightfiel.php
thanks for the write-up, lore! i really enjoyed meeting you.
the article came out well, too, despite the inevitable troll calling me a violent racist. it seems to come with the territory… except for when i’m an antisemite.
