Another Holiday Shirt

The Axial Tilt shirts are selling quite well, so we’re adding a design for our be-pentacled friends:

Co-Opted Pagan Rituals are the Reason for the Season

And if you can’t decide, there’s the greeting card variety pack featuring six each of the two designs.

I am not thrilled by your mocking of Christmas in general, but I am impressed by your knowledge of “co-opted pagan symbols,” and as a Fundamentalist, won’t use pagan symbols, including the yules (which no one in America uses, from what I can tell), Christmas trees, and Santa Claus.

    Anyway, good one, smartboy.

Mocking Christmas? Who’s mocking Christmas? (I mean, besides Bill O’Reilly and company with their absurd “war on Xmas” meme.) Lore isn’t even mocking those who claim that “Jesus is the reason for the season.” He’s correcting them, rather.
If you really want to avoid the paganism, then celebrate Jesus’s birthday in the spring, when he was actually born, rather than on Mithra’s birthday. While you’re at it, you could give up some of the other Mithraic practices, like communion and baptism, and Mithraic beliefs, like the virgin birth, bodily ascension into heaven…

“actually born”??? Surely you jest. At best, you could say “most likely would have been born, presuming he ever existed”.

The season is the reason, nothing more. Everything else is an invented human contrivance.
