Ah, yet another inexplicably funny Lore-ism: A senator made out of viagra.

I try to explain this stuff to people. I send them links to Bad Gods and Alt Text. But some people just don’t get it. I might worry about that a bit… but: A senator made out of viagra. I’m still chuckling.

The “Dave” thing is in fact a reference to Dave Neilsen. It’s also kind of an in-joke between us. I’ll explain.

Before I even had a Web page, Dave and I did a short-lived vanity radio show in Los Angeles. We’d start the show with something like the following:

Me: I’m the latest victim in a series of grisly murders that have the police baffled.

Dave: And I’m Dave.

With, of course, my line changed each show. So when the time came to start assigning ludicrous fantasy names to monsters, I was reminded of that bit, so I incorporated it.

The mustache guy’s indifference to minor inconveniences, such as Fungi, Violet’s touch eating his flesh away, is admirable. So is how he can just make up new words like unicorm.

I eagerly await being further ramified by this marvelous character. May he reappear often!

Maybe it’s just me, but does anyone else feel like if you’re in a certain (fairly narrow) demographic group–namely, geeks/readers/children-of-the-80’s–Lore’s work is pretty much pure poetry?
