Who's mocking Christmas? (I mean, besides Bill O’Reilly and company with their absurd "war on Xmas" meme.) Lore isn't even mocking those who claim that "Jesus is the reason for the season." He's correcting them, rather. If you really want to avoid the paganism, then celebrate Jesus's birthday in the spring, when he was actually born, rather than on Mithra's birthday. While you're at it, you could give up some of the other Mithraic practices, like communion and baptism, and Mithraic beliefs, like the virgin birth, bodily ascension into heaven... Mocking Christmas?
