Give Grumpy Gamers What They Want

I've intentionally covered a lot of ground in my columns so far (not so much in terms of topic as in terms of approach) trying to get a feel for what works and what doesn't work. This is probably my most "normal" humor column so far, using the standard approach of taking my actual opinions on a subject and exaggerating them for ostensibly comic effect.

To be honest, the most effective column to date was March 15th's "The Ghost of Gaming Rip-Offs Past." Not sure I can explain why, and not sure it was the approach, but that was the column with the strongest material so far. Which is not to disparage your latest effort. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback, YLlama. I enjoyed writing that one quite a bit. I tend to have a lot of fun with the ones where I get out of the house, like that one and the matched set of food write-ups.

I thought this one was a bulls-eye... we DO need more puzzle games.

And no, not the 'Towers of Hanoi' knock-off (Thanks, KOTOR).

Did you ever play Callahan's Crosstime Saloon? I loved the puzzles in that game...

In all seriousness (well, maybe not government-subsidy-type seriousness), I hope the gaming powers that be read what you said about adventure games. More, please!

And the grav gun. That'd be like 1337 or something.

I like this column the best of all so far. You not only made me laugh, you were also right. Finally, you left the obvious conclusion for us readers to form; namely, that an extensive puzzle game with grav guns would be the ultimate. gaming. experience.

Nice article Lore. For the record, I think every Alt Text you have written so far, with the possible exception of "Ghosts," has been greenlit to the Tech section of Fark. I even got credit for two of them! Thanks for pumping my score.

I really used to miss the Ratings, but these Alt Texts have more than made up for the long dry spells. This one was really funny. And TRUE! Monkey Island with gravity guns would be an unholy force that would grind society as we know it to a halt.
Also, nice reference to Kingdom of Loathing.
