I spent much of today at G.A.M.E., "The Games and Music Experience." I'll be writing it up for Wired News, but for the nonce I just want to say that I find smoke machines hilarious. Having outlawed smoking in most indoor public places, people are now artifically recreating the hazy atmosphere that used to indicate a happening juke joint. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as happy not inhaling cigarette smoke. Smoking is like the Old West: easy to romanticize, but it would just take one trip to surgery for you to realize you're better off without it. No, I just think it's funny to consider that smoke machines are the party equivalent of tofurkey.
